Aerobatic solo...

It is so exciting to talk to James! Especially since we have been praying for the Lord to fill his mind with the knowledge, skill and ability to fly that plane! Well, he had his aerobatic solo on Friday and just loved it! He has shared that no one is enjoying flying right now, for many reasons...the stress, the difficulty, they always seem to be doing something wrong and the list goes on. However, I do believe that there are certain times when they do enjoy flying, at least for James, and that is when he is soloing! To be up, going through his loops, his rolls and all his other manuevers, sixty miles away, without an IP (instructor pilot) sitting behind him was just pure elation! He did great and seems to have developed a lot more confidence. You can hear it in his voice! That makes me smile...in fact, it brings great joy to my heart, as I have seen God's faithfulness throughout these months. I don't know who's faith has been built up more, James' or his parents! :) I guess it really doesn't matter, does it? The important thing is that the Lord is lifted up!

Hi Claire!

If you want to get in on the interview thing, visit some of the blogs who I "interviewed" and see if you can get them to interview you. It was lots of fun!

Hi Claire, thanks for visiting my blog. Just read your post and even though I don't know you, felt incredibly 'nervous' for James! My husband has voiced an interest in learning how to fly small planes and the thought terrifies me!! You must have great faith in our Fathers ability to take care of your precious son. As a first time Mom of a 10 month old (I'm 41) I can't imagine him walking on his own yet without his Mommy's help, never mind looping in an airplane! You sound like a wonderful Mom. I hope I can be that trusting in my son's abilities and God's care. Have a great day! Becky

Becky, Wonderful to meet you! Drop by anytime! I, too, was sooooooo nervous when I flew in the small plane for the first time with our son! However, it was FABULOUS! As for trusting...I knew from when our son was around 5 or so that the military would be a good 'fit' for him. We are a military family. My father was a pilot in the AF for 33 years, my sister married an Air Force Academy graduate who was a navigator, and her daughter is married to a Lt. Colonel in the AF. You might check out Claire's blog site, www.psalm127.blogspot.com. Drop in anytime!

This was very nice to read. I too am a born again Christian. My son is interested in the Air Force Academy (although he is only 16) and wants to fly. I would be interested to know what the process was like for your son to get into the Air Force.
