Banana Bread...

Last night it rained all night and today has been rainy and much cooler. I thought it was a perfect day to bake some banana bread. My recipe is at least 60 years old, maybe older. It is excellent!

Banana Bread

Mix in order given:

1/2 Cup butter
1 1/2 Cups sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 Cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 Cups flour
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 Cup nuts (I use 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips)
1/4 tsp. salt

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy!

wow, that sounds great! I have been saving banana's in my freezer for over a month now just waiting for the perfect recipe, I think that I just found it!! ok, this is a stupid question (I'm new at the whole house wife thing) do you beat the eggs and then add them? or do you add them and then beat everything?
Thanks!

Jackie, I just beat them with a fork in a separate bowl and then add them in the order of the list. Hope this helps. I also mix my baking soda and my buttermilk together in my measuring cup and let it rise while creaming my butter and sugar together. :) Let me know how it turns out!

Nathan made 4 loaves of this before we went to Ohio, and we ate them all at Amy's house! She said her recipe never turns out as consistently good as mine (which of course is also yours!). Yum!

Made the bread last night for the party at work today and it was the FIRST thing that disappeared off the table. : )
