Heavenly Places...

"To whom then will you liken Me that I would be his equal?" says the Holy One.

Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing." Isaiah 40:25-26

I love that scripture.

"because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing."

When we watched Journey Through Creation we learned that if one of them were missing life on earth would not be possible. I love it when science discovers what scripture already states. :-)

Color me dense, but I don't know what this is a picture of? :o

Stars?

Is there something significant inside the lines?

I'm sufficiently embarrassed...

Gayla, don't be embarrassed. I did this late last night and didn't sufficiently explain. The verse is talking about stars and this is the Crab Nebula which is a dead star. They explode and the gas is called nebula (I think this is correct, maybe Jackie will correct me if I am wrong).

I'm sorry for not being clearer. And, no, there is no significance as far as I am concerned with the box within the box. That's just how the pic was (maybe for a class room discussion?).

Breathtaking...verse and picture!...you know it isn't until we explode with God's goodness that we can make more specks of light in a darkened world :)

Your right Claire.
Once the star burns up all the gas and what not it first explodes and expands out (which is the picture that Claire posted for us) and then the force of the expansion (which is HUGE) pulls the gas back inward, and it creats a black hole (yes they do exist, lol)
The amount of energy release is just mind bolgilling. btw this all happens really fast, but because of the distance these stars are from us, we usually see the resulting "flash" about 10-100years AFTER it actually occures. That how huge the universe is, and how long it takes the light to travel here (remember that like travels at 3.00*10^8m/sec, which is faster then anything you can imagine).

Hope that helps, or maybe it was more info then you wanted, lol.

God is so amazing! The hubble telescope has posted some incredible pictures of galexies far far away. My favorite is http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/galaxy_collection/pr1992017a/
It is in the center of a star birthing center. New stars are still being created? Who would have thought it. But in the very center is a picture of a cross. God is in the midst of it. Beautiful testimony of God's hand in all creation. Enjoy.
