Eerie...

I dropped in at Patty's place and found this little "puzzle" to try. If someone can tell me how to beat it I would really appreciate it. Go here and try it. Thanks, Patty!

For each set of 10 digits, the math will work out to the same number. So 4+5=9, 45-9 =36 or 4+7=11, 47-11=36. Likewise 5+5=10, 55-10=45 or 5+8=13, 58-13=45. Thus, the only possible results from the puzzle are the options for each set of ten: 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81. Each time you do the puzzle, all of those possible resultant numbers will have the same symbol, so you HAVE to be thinking of that symbol. Each time you redo the puzzle, the symbol switches around to be something different, but it is the same for all nine possible result numbers.

Thank you, Dan! I'm so impressed! I could NEVER in a million years or more come up with the "why and how" of this! And, just think, I'm related to you! (You may not want to claim me when it comes to math, but I sure am going to claim YOU when it comes to math!! LOL!) ;)

Thanks Dan. Wheww. Was creeping me out even though intellectually I knew it wasn't possible.
